Playing Dress Up
Final thesis collection developed from concept to final collection that was presented at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week. The collection was inspired by young girls playing dress up in their parents’ clothing (and the oversized and lopsided looks that come from it) as well as by photograms, futurist photography and Duchamp’s Nude Descending a Staircase.
Each look in the collection combines fully fashioned knit styles with draped silk chiffon. The layers are connected by hand needle point felting. Outerwear in the collection repurposes military surplus blankets.
Storybook
A collection inspired by the fairy tales of youth and our desire to reconnect to them as adults.
Unbreakable
A collection inspired by the unbreakable spirit of women and the curved lines of the female form and in architecture.
Surface Effects
Inspired by the layered visual effects of reflections in windows and water.
